What We Do
Milambo Cooperative Union Ltd has tailored extension programs focused on providing knowledge, resources, and support to farmers and stakeholders involved in agricultural activities. These services play a crucial role in improving agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable practices, and enhancing the livelihoods of our member communities. Below are some key aspects of our agricultural extension services:
- Training and Capacity Building: Our Extension Officers organize training workshops, field demonstrations, and educational sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of farmers. These sessions cover a wide range of topics, including new farming techniques, use of machinery and equipment, financial management, marketing strategies, and risk mitigation
- Access to Inputs and Resources: Extension services facilitate access
to agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and machinery, as well as resources like credit, insurance, and market information. By connecting farmers with input suppliers, financial institutions, and market networks, extension services help improve farmers' productivity and profitability. - Monitoring and Evaluation: Extension programs regularly monitor the impact of their interventions on farmers' livelihoods, agricultural productivity, and environmental sustainability. Through surveys, assessments, and feedback mechanisms, they evaluate the effectiveness of extension activities and make data-driven decisions to improve program outcomes.
- Policy Support and Advocacy: Our extension services also engage in policy advocacy and contribute to the development of agricultural policies and programs at the local and national levels. By advocating for the interests of smallholder farmers and rural communities, they help create an enabling environment for agricultural development.
